Purge!

Like Marx in his heyday I've had a purge of my photobucket. Which meant some posts got dumped too. I should have some more stuff to post soon.. Looking for a job and my little monster are taking priority at the moment though.

Toad base Update

I was showing the blog to a friend the other night, and noticed I hadn't put up this image.
Here's the base for the Toad model I'm working on, a little further along.

Painting tip..

A post over on BOLS reminded me, I discovered by accident about 4 months ago that these: 











Are perfect for cleaning paint brushes. The detergent in the wipe picks up paint residue and removes it from the brush. All you have to do is squeegie the fluid through the bristles, and it cleans and conditions the brush tip..

Early commission work

Start of doing commissions for a guy at the local club.. This was the bait.

I'll be changing a few things here. Finished stuff only, and a possible merge with my other blog.

Laser Cut MDF Carts

I love these models! So quick and easy to put together. :)

Once I've put them together (with superglue), I like to give them a wash of PVA to create a sealed layer.
Generally I've been keeping them in groups of parts, to make painting easier.
This literally took 1/2 an hour to build. With some oxen from Perry miniatures (best VFM IMO), it would look the business.



Here's another oxcart I've been working on. The cover is made out of Rizlas (cigarette papers) soaked in PVA water.



The only problem I've had so far is the wheel rims are very fragile on the smaller cart, and could do with being moved in 1/2 a mm or so.
Other than that small gripe, the models are very well designed. The tolerance of the cut is fantastic, with most pieces fitting with friction alone.
The glue is almost an afterthought.

Solar Lions Captain

Works started on my Company Captain.
I'm planning on changing a lot of the details to incorporate a more Lioney feel.
A test image made from shots off the GW website.

Then I gathered the pieces together.

I've started filling the gaps with putty while I work out the pose.

Christmas project nearly finished.

Clare got me something special for christmas, something model related.
Its almost finished, here is a sneak peek.
